James Crane-Baker

Chief Executive Officer

James is a serial startup veteran, trader and technology entrepreneur. He started his career as an electronic trading pioneer at Broadway Trading which was instrumental in disrupting Wall Street by giving traders access to the inside spread and execution. As an expert in short term trading techniques, James trained and mentored hundreds of traders and helped the firm grow to several thousand traders across the US in nearly a dozen offices.

After ten years on Wall Street, James moved to Rio de Janeiro in 2006 and founded a very successful Latin American classified ads network called Dubbed “The Craigslist of Latin America”, Jim sold the business to The Chena Group in the summer of 2011.

In 2011, James founded PsychSignal which is a leading provider of real time trader mood, analytics and indices that enable financial institutions and investment professionals to gain an edge. PsychSignal’s sophisticated algorithms analyze millions of online conversations every day in order to quantify the public’s mood about specific stocks and other securities. The company boasts several leading quantitative hedge funds as its clients.

In 2017, PsychSignal began leveraging its natural language processing technology and fire hose of social activity data to develop a platform that helps investors and traders predict future price movements of digital currencies. This has lead to the creation of Decryptz. James holds Bachelor degrees in Finance and History from Tulane University and studied at the London School of Economics.

Joseph Adipietro

Chief Operating Officer

Joe is a seasoned professional with years of experience in technology, trading, investment banking and senior management. He began his career as a programmer at IBM in Kingston, New York and subsequently joined Accenture, the global management consulting firm in New York. During this period, Joe designed information systems and managed teams of programmers. In 1989, Joe joined Bond Technologies, a technology consulting firm, where he managed the design and implementation of an information system for the private equity group at Merrill Lynch.

After receiving his MBA in 1992, Joe began a 20+ year investment banking career as a capital markets professional with leading Wall Street firms including Citigroup, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Credit Suisse. During this period, Joe completed over $85 billion of financings for both public and private companies in connection with buyouts, acquisitions and recapitalizations. While at Credit Suisse, Joe founded the middle market lending group and grew the business to over $40MM of revenue in four years.

In 2008, Joe founded Bayberry Capital Management, which focused on taking advantage of the dislocation in the capital markets during the financial crisis. During this period, Joe actively managed and traded a portfolio of fixed income and equity securities.

Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Columbia University School of Engineering & Applied Science and an MBA in Finance and International Business from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Paul Famighetti

Infrastructure Scaling and Management.

Paul is a seasoned technology professional having held senior management positions at several leading electronic trading firms. He began his career at Broadway Trading in 1996 rising to the position of CTO by 1999 in which he managed all aspects of the firm’s electronic trading systems. In 2002, Paul joined Schonfeld & Company as Director and Head of Automated Trading. In 2006 Paul was hired as one of the first employees by RGM Advisors to serve as CIO and assist RGM with infrastructure scaling and management. RGM subsequently grew into one of the largest high frequency trading (HFT) operators in the world. RGM was acquired by leading HFT and cryptocurrency trading firm DRW in the fall of 2017.

Leonardo (Leo) is an information retrieval, back-end product development, and infrastructure engineer based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Leo oversees execution of the software engineering, infrastructure, and database systems. From July 2003 to February 2011 he worked in a similar capacity for prior to joining James as CTO of Leo holds a degree in Computer Science from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.

Yoshiharu “Josh” Sato

Blockchain Developer & Quantitative Analyst

Josh is a blockchain developer creating tokens on Ethereum & Stellar, and also a machine learning expert specializing in Algorithmic & High-Frequency Trading. He advises Decryptz on statistical analysis matters and is responsible for the creation of the Decryptz token. He graduated from the University of Warsaw (2014-2016) with a Masters of Science degree in Quantitative Finance and received the Semkow Prize for his research in market micro structure. As a quantitative researcher and developer, he built a back testing system for statistical arbitrage as well as an order book simulation system for HFT and designed several quantitative investment strategies. Josh served as technical advisor for the successful Blockchain Board of Derivatives ICO.

Tomaso Aste, PhD - University College London


Tomaso is Professor of Complexity Science at the University College of London (“UCL”). He is also the Head of the Financial Computing and Analytics Group at UCL as well as Director of the UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies. Tomaso acts as an advisor to Decryptz in connection with its social sentiment analytics and website as well as the design of its native token.

Prior to UCL, Tomaso was Reader at the School of Physics, University of Kent (2009- 2012) and Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at The Aus- tralian National University (2002-2009). Tomaso graduated with a degree in Physics from the University of Genoa and has a PhD from Politecnico di Milano.

Dr. Erin Olivo, PhD - Columbia University


Dr. Olivo is a private-practice Clinical Psychologist in New York City, a Clinical Psychologist at Columbia University Medical Center and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medical Psychology at Columbia University. She is also a faculty member in the Behavioral Medicine Division of the Psychiatry Department at Columbia where she conducts clinical research focused on the use of mind-body interventions with a variety of patient populations.

Dr. Olivo is a noted speaker on the topic of Crowd Psychology Sentiment Analysis. She advises Decryptz (as well as PsychSignal) on matters relating to crowd psychology. Dr. Olivo worked with James Crane-Baker at Broadway Trading in the late 1990’s as the psychological advisor to the members of the trading floor.

Dr. James Pennebaker, PhD - University of Texas at Austin


Dr. Pennebaker is Regents Centennial Professor of Liberal Arts in the Psychology Department at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Pennebaker advises Decryptz (as well as PsychSignal) on linguistics, natural language processing and prediction improvement techniques. He created the Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count (LIWC) text analysis software to determine the degree that text reflects positive or negative emotions, self-references, causal words and 70 other language dimensions.

Notably, Dr. Pennebaker’s work is used by Facebook to gather insight into their users’ emotional state. Dr. Pennebaker has remarked that Decryptz’s technology “is one of the smartest approaches and implementations he has seen”. Dr. Pennebaker has been on the faculty at the University of Virginia, Southern Methodist University, and The University of Texas since 1997. He is author or editor of 10 books and over 250 articles and has received numerous awards and honors.
